"Small Sculptures"

Philippe Janssens is an artist and certified metal smith, originally from Europe. His jewelry creations reflecting many of the ideas seen in his paintings and sculptures, are expressions of the linkage between primitive and contemporary art. The materials he uses for his designs are primarily sterling silver, with semi-precious stones. Each piece is uniquely designed and meticulously hand-fabricated. As you adorn your body with jewelry from "Indigena" or simply use it as a keepsake piece, you are reminded of your cultural and spiritual connections to people from other parts of the world.

3 Features of Indigena

Natural Curve

The distinctive curve and natural shapes give the designs an organic feeling. The unusual play with shadows and light is sometimes mysterious and sensual.

Mechanical Hinge

Mechanical Hinge

Compared to the natural curve, the hinged designs form a dynamic and mechanical appearance which make them unique and contemporary.

Sculptural Texture

The textured geometric and abstract patterns enhance the surface, giving the designs a three dimentional sculptural appearance.

Comment from Designer

My metalwork is the result of over thirty-five years of dedication to my craftsmanship and my vision as a jeweler and artist. I infuse my designs with influences from all over the world. On paper I create unique and dynamic images and transforms them into wearable art. Originally from Europe, my work reflects both old world craftsmanship and my desire for the new. Constantly evolving, my work initially focused on bringing primitive artwork together with contemporary influences.

Over the years, my work has changed to reflect my interest in design itself. Rather than purposefully combining imagery from various cultures, I now allow myself to pursue a more organic approach to my work. My designs are now channeled directly from my spirit and my imagination. My belief in the power of the creative process itself has produced the artwork I am creating today.
